ABOUT KIMBERLY

Founder of Kimmotion Pilates

Originally from New York, Kimberly Kandra is the founder of Kimmotion Pilates and a lifelong mover. She holds a BA in Dance Performance from Hamilton College and began her career as a professional modern dancer, performing and choreographing for companies in New York, Chicago, and here in Annapolis.

After becoming a mother to five children—including two sets of twins—Kimberly turned to Pilates to regain the strength, flexibility, and tone she needed to keep dancing. Inspired by the method’s transformative impact, she transitioned from stage to studio, officially founding Kimmotion Pilates in 2010.

Kimberly is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. She has studied extensively with respected mentors including Cameron MacDonald, Bonnie Grove, and the late Bob Liekens. She completed the Advanced Teacher Seminar in 2019 with Clare Dunphy Hemani and the Heritage Training Program (Kathy Stanford Grant lineage) in 2025 with Cara Reeser. Kimberly was also asked to be a Mentor in Clare Dunphy Hemani’s Elevate Pilates Program in 2020.

A specialist in Pilates for Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions, Kimberly brings over 20 years of teaching experience to her practice. Known for her intuitive eye, thoughtful cueing, and compassionate approach, she is especially skilled at adapting sessions for clients with injuries or specific health concerns. Whether working with beginners or advanced practitioners, Kimberly creates a supportive, effective, and inspiring environment for movement and growth.
